His waaghs give him enough confidence to actually go and seek full player armies and your battles actually matter because you have just enough tools at that point to deal with 20v40+ unit armies. Honestly, most fun I've had in this game was with Chaos Dwarfs and being at war with Grimgor. If you survived the first 30 turns and got a foothold, you will pretty much snowball out of control and nothing short of ultimate crisis anti-player bias will make you pause and consider your turns later. Goes even without mentioning it, but I will anyway how AI still doesn't put up a good fight so by turn 50, on any difficulty the game becomes an easy grindfest. Unfortunately getting reliable ambushes with fresh armies has the same chance of success as a 87% positive hero action outcome. What you can't deal with is armies that just force march right outside your movement range, raid on the tip of your province, pull off some Houdini maneuvers just to annoy and disrupt your campaign enough for you to get another small army and try to ambush trap them. I love seeing my vassal raid right next to reiksguard army of Karl Franz, get annihilated, give him and his army XP as well as more gold so that the player has to deal with an even stronger ordertide later on.Īll the things I mentioned sure are annoying, but you can deal with it. Now tell me buddy, why declare war on me instead of trying to become my ally? You see Imrik demolish the chaos dwarfs who you hate more than Imrik and wipe out every Kugath stack that's being sailed into Imrik's lands who you ALSO hate more than Imrik. And what do you do when you declare war on Imrik just because he offended you by simply being too strong? Let's go throw our ogre bull and gnoblar stacks on undefended developing minor settlements. Power ranking 150 out of 170, felt like starting a war with Imrik who's power ranking 2 with enough dragons to consume all of the Ogre kingdoms. The sheer stupidity of the AI(goes for vassals as well).Īh yes, Thunderguts. Especially late game where on L/VH, the autoresolve is just bad enough for you, that you want to do it manually if you are in dangerous territory so a lot of battles become simply unfun siege after siege. The player doesn't have the luxury of sitting in a settlement for 10 turns because the player doesn't have crazy economy cheats like AI does.Īnd just this isn't enough to be annoying but when it's compounded with other aspects of how AI plays, that's when it becomes real annoying. This isn't some hot take or fresh news but I want to mention it anyway how AI will simply REFUSE any fair field battles and much rather hide in a settlement until a player army has moved on. Is it it's overly cowardly tendencies, it's sheer stupidity or how it's designed to simply annoy the player? And I am mainly talking about campaign map AI, battle AI is a completely different beast. Let's preface by saying 3.0 patch has done some nice things for it where I am genuinely surprised AI doesn't start unwinnable wars against me when it was far enough away and didn't even bother me UNTIL I was the aggressor.
